Vietnam exports over US$16 billion goods to US

Vietnam shipped to the US US$16 billion worth of commodities in the past five months of this year, up 10% year on year while its imports from the partner reached US$3.94 billion, up 26.3%.
The figures, released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, combined a two-way trade value of US$19.96 billion during the period, rising by 12.8%.
Vietnam purchased US$1.14 billion worth of computers, electronics and components from the US in the reviewed period, up 41.6%.
These products accounted for the largest proportion of the country’s imports, or 29%.
It imported US$92.1 million worth of iron and steel scraps from the US during the time, only accounting for 2.3% of the total imports but representing a staggering 15-fold increase against the same period last year, the ministry said.
The country also saw a jump of over 100% in imports of telephones and components, petroleum products, papers, and ores and minerals.
