"Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of President Shri Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi", External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted. Meanwhile, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bangladesh has also been lifted to a new height, more effectively and tangibly, Quy said. Bangladesh and Vietnam aim to raise their two-way annual trade to $2 billion over the next three years from almost $1 billion, a business association official said on Monday. "We would like to take the bilateral trade between the two countries to $1billion at the end of this year". Bangladesh mainly imports agriculture products, such as rice and livestock products from Vietnam while it imports textiles and cloths, leather and leather products, plastic products and medicine from Bangladesh. Earlier in the day, the Vietnamese President also met former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress leader Anand Sharma and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. The leader asked the Ministry of Defence and the agencies concerned to create favourable conditions for the centre to develop more and more vigorously, whilst calling for further support from the State and relevant bodies of Russian Federation in order to help the centre to gain more significant achievements, for the benefits of the people of Vietnam and Russian Federation. Asked about President Quang's speech before Indian politicians, professors, researchers, scholars and students at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library in New Delhi, Quy said the leader sent a message that Vietnam and India enhance their comprehensive strategic partnership for more prosperous and developed Indo-Pacific and Asian regions, for common interests of all regional countries, and for peace and stability in the world. To establish a framework for enhancing economic and trade promotion, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed during the state visit of President of Vietnam to India.
